Background: A Passion for Serving the Palmetto State
As someone who has always had a keen sense of right and wrong and a desire to achieve excellence and fairness in all things, pursuing law was a natural career choice. After graduating with honors from the prestigious Emory University School of Law, Marc went on to become a dedicated litigator who focuses on personal injury, workers’ compensation, and civil rights cases.
Many personal and professional experiences shaped Marc into the diligent and passionate lawyer he is today. Growing up as a military child, he gained an appreciation for different people, cultures, and experiences while learning to adapt and excel no matter where life took him. Marc feels that learning to be resilient and adaptable at such a young age helps him succeed in his law career. As the son of a career airman stationed at Shaw Air Force Base and an elementary school teacher who retired from the Sumter County Public School System after 35 years of teaching, choosing to establish his practice in South Carolina seemed only fitting. After attending law school and beginning his law practice in Atlanta, Georgia, Marc returned to South Carolina in the fall of 2016 to work for Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, a national law firm with more than 750 lawyers.
Marc’s time working for Nelson Mullins equally influenced his career trajectory and exposed him to many different practice areas and prominent mentors. He defended large companies in complex commercial litigation—including cases dealing with autonomous vehicles, fraud, RICO charges, and wage and hour class actions. Additionally, he worked for a regional civil defense law firm representing insurance companies and businesses in personal injury and workers’ compensation cases—including car accidents, trucking accidents, shooting incidents, wrongful death, nursing home injuries, and work-related injuries.
From law school to his prior work experience, Marc has received some of the best legal training available. Marc’s exposure working for insurance companies, large corporations, and private citizens has afforded him the opportunity to observe both sides of a case, witness the diversity each client brings to court, and ultimately refine his skills as an attorney. He knows exactly how insurance companies and corporations evaluate claims and what they look for when deciding to increase the amount of money they are willing to pay. Marc works tirelessly to make sure his clients receive the best results possible.
Marc equally values his family, community, and the practice of law. He finds great purpose and joy volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia and serving as a board member of both the Children’s Trust of South Carolina and Communities in Schools of the Midlands. Marc is married to Kiera, a pharmacist in Columbia, and has a teenage son, Emmanuel—a motivated young man who is currently earning his high school diploma and associate’s degree simultaneously. As a family, Marc, Kiera, and Emmanuel enjoy spending time in the gym, attending Carolina Gamecock football games, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
